Google for Nonprofits
I am sure you or someone you know has at one point benefited from a nonprofit organization in a way. Some of the most impactful and easily recognizable global nonprofit organizations include the Red Cross, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), Feeding America and the list is endless. These organizations are involved in transforming the world positively on a daily basis, and they make no profit. As a result, Google has also noted their effort and their respective causes. By using their broad access to the global market, Google has come up with a program meant to boost these organizations’ goals; note that no good cause goes unrewarded.
Through the program dubbed Google for Nonprofits, Google is reaching out to nonprofit organizations and giving them free access to many of its core products. Currently, Google has dedicated five products to help these groups further their goals. These products are:
G Suite for Nonprofits
I suppose you’ve interacted with Gmail and Google Drive. G Suite for nonprofit s offers a package of these two products to organizations at no cost. This offering ensures that these groups can securely communicate with partners, stakeholders, and employees. With the Google Drive option, the nonprofits get the opportunity to store, manage and share their files with ease and at no cost.
Google Ad Grants
Google Ad Grants is another product that the program avails to nonprofit organizations to support their goals to change the world positively. When doing online marketing, AdWords is essential in serving ads to users. Ad owners always pay a fee to Google whenever someone clicks on the advertising. However, Google Ad Grants is a free version of AdWords meant for Google’s target nonprofit organizations.
YouTube Nonprofits Program
In a bid to convince their supporters to keep supporting them, Google for Nonprofits has offered this tool. YouTube empowers nonprofits to reach their supporters in different ways using a well-crafted, user-relevant and interactive content.
Google One Today
This is another product offered through the Google Nonprofits Program to help further the missions of these organizations. You know how hard it is to source funds to finance projects run by nonprofit organizations. This product’s contribution comes in the form of scouting for new donors from different parts of the world. Besides, it also helps to ease the process of establishing a connection for new donors to connect with the target organizations.
Google Earth Outreach
When marketing your nonprofit organization, you need location data. Google Earth Outreach has filled this gap. This product helps nonprofit s customize their maps while creating global location data.
When I first heard of the Google nonprofit program, I didn’t realize that the program had been in operation for quite some time. In fact, I learned that Special Olympic World Games had made use of G Suite and Google Ad Grants to promote their reach for the 2015 world games, and the list of organizations that have taken advantage of this program is extensive.
Google for Nonprofits is just one way Google is directly involved in promoting the causes furthered by these organizations.
Google Donate Button
Recently Google has included a Donate Button on the search engine’s search result page for a few of these organizations within the US.
According to a statement from Google delivered by their product manager Mr. Prem Ramaswami, about 30% of all donations made all year round happen during holidays.
As such, Google decided to ease the process of donating to your favorite organizations provided you’re able to have a view of the history, contact information and their website in the search results. In a controlled rollout, the company is currently offering this option to nonprofits only based in the United States.
Currently, there are a significant number of nonprofits in the U.S. whose causes have been boosted by the addition of the Donate Button. You can learn more about this initiative by heading to the Google for Nonprofits website
